Privacy at Cereboid
Cereboid exists so you can use AI on confidential documents without handing them to the large US AI labs. This page explains, in plain language, what happens to your data.
What we store
- Your account (email, name, password hash) and credit balance.
- Your uploaded files, encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM using a key unique to your account.
- Text extracted from your files, its search index (embeddings), outline and knowledge graph, so we can answer questions.
- Your chats, saved playbooks and a record of model usage for billing.
Where it is stored
On servers we operate in the European Union. Database rows are isolated per user with Postgres row-level security.
AI processing
Questions and relevant excerpts are sent to open-weight models (GLM, DeepSeek, Qwen, Gemma) through Venice.ai's private inference API, which operates with zero data retention: requests are not stored and never used for training. We do not use OpenAI, Anthropic or Google APIs. Search reranking runs on our own servers.
Uploaded files are untrusted
Every file is opened inside a disposable sandbox container without network access and with strict memory, CPU and time limits. The sandbox only returns extracted text and is destroyed afterwards, so a malicious file cannot reach our application or other users' data.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
Deletion
Deleting a document immediately erases the file and everything derived from it. Deleting your account erases all of your data. Encrypted database backups, if enabled, expire on a rolling schedule.
